Welcome to “Nancy's Trunk”! I'm Nancy and I'm the quilter and the fabric lover of our family.
My Grandmother, Mary Jennie Linn Lathrop, taught me to sew on her treadle sewing machine when I was 10 years old. She was always working on a quilt.
I have been in the quilt fabric business since 2002. I had a small shop and my husband and I traveled coast to coast for several years doing “Quilt Shows”. In 2010 we decided to settle down and built our current shop here on 33 highway south of Ripley. We have lots of fabric, books, patterns and notions.
We specialize in Singer Featherweight sewing machines.
As for the Big Green Trunk, my husband bought this for me about 30 years ago and the story he got when he purchased it was that it came to Oklahoma in the Land Run. It was painted solid gray, inside and out. It took me weeks to get all the gray paint off but underneath the paint, the metal and wood was beautiful. Since it was an alligator grain metal covering I decided to paint it green and left the wood natural. It has been used for quilt storage all these years and now it has become my logo and the inspiration for the name of my business, “Nancy's Trunk”.
